Pinch Points are areas where two or more parts of your unit can fold (or “pinch”) together, trapping anything caught between them.
Check Your Parts Manual and Look for Pinch Point Stickers
All Pinch Points are indicated on Ver-Mac units. Look for the stickers that indicate pinch points. However, since stickers can fall or be scraped off, please check your parts manual to see where pinch points are located.
All workers physically operating units need to be aware of pinch points and avoid them, particularly when the parts in question are moving.
If Your Unit Becomes Stuck
If your unit becomes stuck,
do not engage with the unit in any manner that puts you at risk of getting caught in a pinch point. Contact support for assistance.
Welds
It is essential to ensure the welding on your equipment is in good condition before deploying or transporting a unit.
Weakened or damaged welds entail severe risks of falling masts and signs, as well as trailers detaching in transit and causing an accident.Make sure to check the welding on your equipment for the
following four issues every time you are preparing to deploy.
1. Check for
bulges and bends on the outer mast. When the mast is lifted to its top position, it could tilt and get stuck.
2. Look for any signs of rust or cracks in the
welds at the base of the mast.
3. Inspect the
welding around the pole attaching the trailer to the hitch for rust or cracks.
4. Make sure there is no rust or cracks in the
welding on the outriggers, if applicable.
Contact support immediately to address any problems with your welds prior to deploying. To avoid significant damage to your equipment’s welding, always properly close your units prior to transport.
